A Church Renewal team of 10 from Texas Baptist Men led an Experiencing God weekend at Pidcoke Baptist Church. Where? Pidcoke, Texas. It is located about half way between Gatesville and Copperas Cove, Texas. Pidcoke Baptist Church has a long history including a period of decline. It happens to be located on the edge of Fort Hood, Texas. The church and the community was much larger before World War II. But when the US Army began to take land to build the largest Army training base, many of the community farmers moved away. This led to a long period of decline.
Rev. Donald McConnaughhay, a retired Army chaplain, came to pastor Pidcoke Baptist Church five years ago they only had 13 members. But, under his leadership the church has grown to over 80 members. Rev. McConnaughhay felt God’s leadership to have an Experiencing God weekend January 22-24, 2016, to strengthen their discipleship ministry. This church has a great spirit of fellowship and a strong desire to grow in their relationship with the Father. As the team led with testimonies, teaching and small groups, they fell in love with this small congregation.
The main purpose of the Experiencing God weekend is to give the church an overview of the seven realities of Experiencing God that will lead them to do the 12-week follow-up study. At the conclusion of the Sunday morning service, 34 members signed commitment cards to be involved in the follow up 12-week study.
