Ralph Rogers & Gary Smith receive awards

As Southern Baptist Disaster Relief members gathered at Camp Copass in Denton, Texas to celebrate 50 years responding to disasters across the United States, Texas Baptist Men volunteers Ralph Rogers and Gary Smith were honored with awards. 

Ralph Rogers was presented with the Joel W. Phillips Outstanding Achievement Award. This award is given to an individual who has demonstrated 'Christ in Crisis', and has provided consistent outstanding leadership in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief for three or more years. This person has demonstrated outstanding ability or accomplishment in their daily walk. The Outstanding Achievement award is given for a series of services. It is the second highest award presented in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.  Only two recipients a year receive this award.

Gary Smith was awarded the Robert E. Dixon Lifetime Achievement Award.  This award is a hall of fame award given to a person who has demonstrated the Fruit of the Holy Spirit in their daily life as well as through disaster relief. The recipient has provided service above and beyond the call of duty.  They have contributed Christ like leadership in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief and have made a significant impact on the ministry both inside and outside their state. This award recognizes lifetime achievement of one who has helped shape the course of Southern Baptist Disaster Relief! One award is presented to a volunteer in the United States each year.
