Loving West - Floods of people have asked how they can help West after the explosion rocked the small town. "Loving West" is doing just that by mobilizing a large number of volunteers with nightly worship services and a Christian concert at the end of the week.

"Loving Houston" - Responding to those recovering from Hurricane Ike and beautifying the city of Houston
Texas Baptists Disaster Recovery is partnering with the Union Baptist Association and the mayor of Houston to assist families still recovering from Hurricane Ike. Loving Houston efforts will occur prior to the 2013 Southern Baptist Convention meeting which is being held in Houston.

Who: Students, adults and families are invited
Cost: The cost of travel to Houston. (Lodging and food will be at no cost to volunteers thanks to UBA and Texas Baptists Disaster Recovery and Bethany Baptist Church, Houston)
Lodging and food: Housing at Bethany Baptist Church, Houston (donations will be accepted for food)
Group size: Unlimited
What will we be doing: Projects will include roof repairs, construction, clean up, neighborhood beautification.

Disaster Recovery Trip to the Rockaway’s, New York

Texas Baptist Disaster Recovery is mobilizing volunteers to the Rockaway's near Queens, New York. We will be working with Urban Impact of New York City. This ministry partners with the Metropolitan New York Baptist Association.

Disaster Recovery Trip to Staten Island, New York
The Gateway Church at Staten Island is housing volunteers and providing volunteer opportunities.
Cost: $15 per night plus food, flights and van/car rental
Group Size: Up to 40 (skilled and unskilled volunteers needed)

Hurricane Sandy building supplies and/or funds needed now
The Church at the Gateway in Staten Island, New York, is collecting items and serving as a distribution center for disaster survivors. They are focusing on building supplies. Begin collecting these items or send funds to assist. Cliff Scrutchin of Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Houston is organizing this effort. Contact Cliff for more information at 832-483-9308. Cliff is working with Home Depot and getting most of the items at a lower cost. Volunteers will begin picking up the items for delivery to New York on April 29.

Disaster Recovery Teams Needed in Haiti
Texas Baptists Disaster Recovery is partnering with "We Care Haiti" to send construction and medical volunteer teams to work just outside Petit Goave, Haiti. Contact Marla Bearden (214) 537-7358 or Gerald Davis or more information and possible dates. Hurry, 2013 dates are filling up fast.

Japan Earthquake/Tsunami Ministry of Encouragement (Trip 1)
Date: August 20-30, 2013
Description: Sherwood Moffett, retired IMB Missionary to Japan will be leading a team of no more than 5 to go to Tohoku region of Japan to work with an IMB team, led by IMB Missionary Tak Que, doing ministry of encouragement with the disaster survivors living in temporary housing communities. Teams will hold parties, prepare food and work crafts to help encourage these who have suffered so much.
Number of Volunteers Needed: Team of 5 (3 are already committed)
Approx Cost: $2,000 (includes airfare) Housing will be at the IMB Guest House in Tono, Japan.
