Each year thousands of volunteers make a personal commitment to respond to God's invitation to become involved in a short-term mission trip. Each volunteer responds to the challenge of prayerfully searching for the Lord's guidance in selecting the right mission trip and raising the funds necessary for transportation, food, lodging and supplies.
One of the best ways to understand mission is to be involved in a hands-on mission project. Each year Texas Baptist Men sponsors several mission projects. These projects are both domestic and international. Many of these mission projects are right here in Texas. The projects vary from prayer walking, evangelistic surveys, construction/witness teams, teaching opportunities, medical-dental clinics, and many other opportunities.
Where do you begin inn the process of determining where God is inviting you to join Him in His activities? Prayers, seeking the Lord’s guidance as you make yourself available to His direction for your life is the first step. Share with your pastor your sense of direction and availability to volunteer missions. Contact your Director of Missions or your local associational office to see if they have formed some existing partnerships with other associations or agencies. You may elect to go directly to the following Southern Baptist agencies to check for volunteer mission request.
Baptist General Convention of Texas
International Mission Board
North American Mission Board
Southern Baptist of Texas Convention
Woman’s Missionary Union of Texas
